Volunteer alone, with a friend, with a work or church group, we are a fun, friendly group and we would love to have you! On a client move-in day, you will work hard, have fun, and meet other people that are interested in transforming the lives of others!

Move-in Day-
Get ready to sweat! After we announce a move-in date on our website or our Facebook page, we will send you instructions on the logistics of the day.

We will meet at the storage facility to load up the moving truck with our reclaimed furniture and household items and caravan with all of the volunteers to the clients new home.

Upon arriving, we will bring all of our furniture and household items into the clients apartment…that is when the fun begins! Get ready to be creative! We will spend the next few hours stocking cabinets and drawers, placing furniture, hanging curtains, mirrors and artwork, putting together beds and setting tables. We will then leave our client with their newly transformed space.

We truly take any goods that will help turn a house into a home. Some examples of items include but are not limited to:

  • Living room furniture
  • Couch
  • Love Seat
  • Chairs
  • End tables
  • Coffee tables
  • Entertainment stands
  • Wall hangings/pictures
  • Curtains and curtain rods
  • Throw pillows
  • Area rugs (free of pet hair, please)
  • Dressers
  • Shelving units/book shelves
  • Small desks
  • Dining Room/Kitchen tables and chairs
  • Dishes
  • Cooking pans and bake ware
  • Utensils/silverware
  • Working coffee pots
  • Working microwaves
  • Dish towels and dish rags
  • Pot holders
  • Kitchen and bathroom garbage cans
  • Bedroom furniture
  • Head boards
  • Bed frames

Items we can’t (regretfully) accept.

  • Heavy furniture that will be difficult to move up 2- 3 flights of stairs.
  • Clothing
  • Baby items such as cribs or changing tables
  • Tube television sets
  • Sofa beds/recliners
  • Sectionals-there often isn’t the space for these in most apartments.
  • Large desks-there often isn’t the space for these in most apartments.
  • Rugs that have not been cleaned or have been exposed to pets.
  • Used Mattresses or Box Springs- We have been blessed with a partner who is providing new mattresses/box springs for all of our 2018 clients.

We also appreciate donations of new linens such as bed sheets, bath towels, and kitchen towels.

Cleaning supplies are always needed and used!

​We do not charge our clients for any fees or services; however, we ask for a suggested minimum donation of $20 to help us cover our costs. If you would like us to pick-up your donated gently used furniture, please put a check mark on the form, in the pick-up box below.  If you have a small window to work with, and would like The Home 2 Home Project to pick-up your donated gently used furniture, some of our amazing donors will rent out a truck and bring it over — we’ll help you unload! If you don’t want to do it this way, we can give you information about a priority pick- up service that can pick-up your furniture.
